At East Wind Mushing we aim to train and race a competitive sled dog team; competing in mid distance races around Alaska with the ultimate goal being Iditarod. We actively strive to share the love of the sport with our community of Kokhanok and the lake region. We highly value dog care, and strive to be positive ambassadors for the sport. We include our daughter, Lyra, in the sport in every way we can. This is not only a hobby, but a lifestyle.

The location of our kennel is unique, we are the only competitive kennel in the Lake and Peninsula Borough. We are a fly in only village, 215 miles from Anchorage. Due to the remoteness of our region, we are able to boast of having one of the most secluded sleddog kennels in all of Alaska. We are bringing mushing back to an area where the once beloved sport and tradition has nearly died. In the future we hope to offer services in the community such as mushing camps for youth, dog rides, and dog care workshops.
